Kai held the string and walked through the crowd. He felt so happy.
A gust of wind came. The string slipped through Kai's fingers. Oh no!
The red balloon floated up into the sky, higher and higher.
Kai watched it go. His lip wobbled. My balloon is gone, he said.
Dad knelt down. I am sorry, buddy. Do you want a new one?
They went back to the balloon stand and got a blue one this time.
