Once upon a time, in a cozy, brown house in the forest, lived a family of three kind bears. There was a great, big Papa Bear, a medium-sized Mama Bear, and a teeny, tiny Baby Bear. One morning, Mama Bear made hot porridge for breakfast. It was too hot to eat. 'Let's go for a walk while our porridge cools,' said Papa Bear. So the three kind bears went for a walk. Soon, a little girl named Goldilocks came by. She was very curious. She saw the cozy house and knocked. 'Hello?' No one answered. So she peeked inside.
Goldilocks saw three bowls of porridge on the table. She was hungry. First, she tasted the porridge in the great, big bowl. 'Ouch! This porridge is too hot!' she said. Next, she tasted the medium-sized bowl. 'Blech! This porridge is too cold!' she said. Then, she tasted the teeny, tiny bowl. 'Mmm! This porridge is just right!' she said, and she ate it all up. After eating, Goldilocks looked for a place to sit. She saw three chairs.
First, she tried the great, big chair. 'This chair is too hard!' she said. Next, she tried the medium-sized chair. 'This chair is too soft!' she said. Then, she tried the teeny, tiny chair. 'Ah! This chair is just right!' she said. But Goldilocks was not a tiny girl, and... CRASH! The little chair broke all to pieces. 'Oh no!' she whispered. Now she was very sleepy. She went upstairs and saw three beds. The big bed was too high. The medium bed was too low. But the teeny, tiny bed was just right. Goldilocks lay down and fell fast asleep.
Soon, the three kind bears came home. 'Someone has been eating my porridge!' said Papa Bear in his big, deep voice. 'Someone has been eating my porridge!' said Mama Bear in her soft, kind voice. 'Someone ate my porridge all up!' cried Baby Bear. Then they saw the chairs. 'Someone has been sitting in my chair and broke it!' cried Baby Bear. They went upstairs. 'Someone has been sleeping in my bed... and she is still here!' squeaked Baby Bear. Goldilocks woke up and was very scared. 'I am so sorry!' she cried. The bears were not angry, they were kind. 'It is okay,' said Mama Bear gently, 'but you must always ask before you go into someone's house.'
