Olivia had been asking for a pet for a very long time. For her birthday, her parents said she could finally pick one out.
At the pet store, Olivia saw puppies, kittens, hamsters, and fish. There were so many animals to choose from!
She walked slowly past every cage. Then she saw a small gray rabbit sitting quietly in the corner, twitching its nose.
This one, said Olivia softly. The rabbit looked up at her with big, gentle eyes. She knew this was the right pet.
She named the rabbit Clover. At home, she set up a cozy cage with soft bedding, a water bottle, and a little food dish.
Every day, Olivia fed Clover fresh lettuce and carrots. She learned that rabbits need exercise, so she let Clover hop around the room.
Clover liked to sit on Olivia's lap while she read books. The rabbit would nap while Olivia turned the pages quietly.
Having a pet was a big responsibility, but Olivia loved every moment. Clover was the best birthday present she ever got.
