Ms. Park's class was having a bake sale to raise money for new books. Every student could bring something to sell at the table.

Devin wanted to make cupcakes, but he had never baked before. His grandma said she would teach him. They went to the kitchen together after school.

First, they measured flour, sugar, and cocoa powder into a big bowl. Devin cracked the eggs himself, though a tiny piece of shell fell in.

Grandma showed him how to mix the batter slowly so it would not splash. Then they poured it carefully into the cupcake pan, filling each cup halfway.

While the cupcakes baked, Devin made frosting with butter and powdered sugar. He added a few drops of blue food coloring and stirred until it was sky blue.

The cupcakes came out golden and puffy. Devin frosted each one and added rainbow sprinkles on top. They looked amazing. He could not believe he made them.

At the bake sale, Devin's cupcakes sold out in fifteen minutes. Everyone said they were delicious. His friend Ava bought three and ate them all.

The class raised enough money for twenty new books. Devin felt proud. He asked Grandma if they could bake cookies next. She laughed and said absolutely.
