It was a cold winter morning. Lily put on her coat, scarf, and boots. But she could only find one mitten!
Where is my red mitten? she asked. Mom and Dad helped her look.
They checked the coat hooks, the shoe bin, and under the sofa cushions.
They looked in the toy box and behind the bookshelf. Still nothing.
I will have to go to school with one cold hand, Lily said sadly.
Then her dog Biscuit padded in from the hall. Something dangled from his mouth.
My mitten! cried Lily. Biscuit wagged his tail and dropped it at her feet.
Thank you, Biscuit! Lily said, hugging the soggy mitten. You are the best dog ever.
